This Blog is Copyrighted
Thanks to the Justice Department, I’m now allowed to post this logo (or whatever similar image the FBI eventually makes available for download) here, there, and everywhere I’ve created intellectual property. Or I will be in 30 days once a new rule goes into effect.
According to Paid Content, this week, the Justice Department posted a regulation permitting any and all copyright holders to mark their property with the FBI anti-piracy warning. Be careful though, because misuse is forbidden by federal law, specifically, Sections 701, 709, and 712 of Title 18 of the United States Code. Note: you can’t just draw up your own (though you could add the official version to your doodle). The seal must be downloaded from the FBI’s website. Since copyright law does not require a work to be registered, any work is automatically copyrighted upon its creation. At least, that’s my limited understanding.
